Indoor air can be substantially more polluted than outdoor air

According to the World Health Association (WHO), air pollution is the single biggest environmental risk to human health with 9 out of 10 people in the world breathing polluted air.

WHO estimates that air pollution is the cause of 7 million premature deaths and cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, heart disease and cancer. This is in addition to air pollution’s role in the development of respiratory diseases.

What few know is that indoor air can be up to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Indoor air pollution is generated by everyday activities such as cooking, smoking, use of candles, open fires and cleaning products. In addition, polluted outdoor air enters homes and workplaces through ventilation and many common indoor materials generate particles and gases. Read more about what pollutes your air
