Today, in more than half of the worlds’ countries LGBTQ+ people are not protected against workplace discrimination.

Unilever believes every employee, without exception, must feel able to bring their true authentic self to work and is committed to fighting for equal treatment for the LGBTQ+ community.

Unilever UK and Ireland is showing their support for the LGBTQ+ community through a number of events and activities during key Pride moments and throughout the year.

London Pride

Wearing bright rainbow wings and walking amongst a sea of colour, over 75 Unilever employees joined the London Pride parade this year, showing their support for Pride celebrations and the LGBTQ+ communities both within and outside the business.

For the largest Pride in the UK yet, which attracted over 1.5million people and involved 600 organisations walking during the procession, Unilever employees wore rainbow wings and walked with six samba dancers led by Australian drag star, and previous Unilever employee, Shae G’day.

Fighting for equal treatment every day of the year

Unilever is one of the world’s most culturally diverse companies and is committed to developing an inclusive culture which acknowledges the contribution of all employees, regardless of their gender, age, race, disability, sexual orientation or any other background.

Earlier this month Unilever’s CEO, Alan Jope, shared a message of Unilever’s support and belief that every member of the LGBTQ+ community must be treated fairly by society not just for one moment in the year but every day, every week, every month and every year.

Lighting Up London

To show Unilever’s commitment to championing diversity and inclusion, and to creating a workplace where employees are able to bring their true self to work, Unilever’s headquarters in London were lit up with a rainbow flag during London pride week.

The Brighton Rainbow Fund

This year a number of Unilever UK & Ireland brands including Lynx, Impulse, Radox, Vaseline, V05 have created a range of limited-edition Pride products. Each brand has worked in partnership with The Brighton Rainbow Fund, a Brighton and Hove based fundraising charity who provide grants to local LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS organisations.

To continue to raise awareness of The Brighton Rainbow Fund and show continued support for the LGBTQ+ community beyond Pride, these products will be available throughout the year, not just during Pride celebrations.

Lynx and Impulse are also sponsoring Brighton Pride later this year – and will be involved in the procession of the day.
