Wall’s kicks off the ice cream season with their employability initiative
Unilever UK and Ireland and its Wall’s brand officially launches its I’m Wall’s employability initiative.
Now in its third year in the UK, I’m Wall’s provides opportunities for people from the age of 18 with a chance to discover what it takes to run their own ice cream business. Having undergone two days of training, this year will see over 50 entrepreneurs selling Wall’s ice creams at 16 popular entertainment sites across the UK, including Legoland and Alton Towers. Running throughout the summer months, Unilever developed the initiative and delivers it on a global scale through Wall’s, the UK’s biggest ice cream brand.
Primarily aimed at young people struggling to find full time employment, the initiative provides entrepreneurs with practical business and life skills to help kick-start their careers. Delivering the programme in partnership with McCurrach’s, each recruit is provided a structured training programme to build their business skills and confidence. Entrepreneurs will also receive a competitive wage and a profit related bonus to recognise their hard work and achievements. Innovative and eye catching equipment including, vans, kiosks, push carts and freezers are provided by Wall’s to help entrepreneurs sell more of the nation’s favourite frozen treats.

Not only will this have the benefit of boosting employment prospects for many young people, but it will also help our business to spread the joy of ice cream beyond the home and onto our streets. I’m Wall’s is a global initiative that Unilever runs as part of the company’s broader commitment to building sustainable livelihoods. The programme has now expanded to cover 20 countries, including Latin America and South Asia and aims to offer jobs to 100,000 young people worldwide by 2020.
