Last week Unilever were crowned regional winners of the North West – Liverpool City Region, Cumbria and Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards.

The Awards are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two key areas: businesses that grow their talent with apprentices, and apprentices which have made a significant contribution to their workplace. In January 2017, Unilever will attend the National awards in London to celebrate and compete against other regional finalists in the Macro Employer of the Year category.

Congratulations also goes to Sophie McEntee-Morris, a IT Higher Apprentice at the Unilever Port Sunlight who received a Highly Commended award in the Higher Degree Apprentice category.

The recognition highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to establishing opportunities for young people to kick-start their careers.

Placid Jover, VP HR, Unilever UK & Ireland said: “At Unilever, we believe offering apprenticeships enables a company to build their talent for the future whilst benefiting the broader economy and the lives of hundreds of young people. As a multi-national business and a fairly large employer in the UK, we believe we have both a responsibility and an opportunity to help young people gain the skills and experience to improve their future employment prospects.”
