Unilever has received the ultimate seal of approval from Her Majesty The Queen with seven of the company’s brands being honoured with the Royal Warrant.

Joining the Royal Warrant holders for the first time are Marmite, Knorr and Comfort, with Persil, Stork, Colman’s and Hellmann’s proud to be granted a continuation of their existing Royal Warrants. This crowning achievement makes Unilever one of only 806 Royal Warrant holders in the world.

A highly sought-after privilege, the Royal Warrant recognises individuals or companies which have supplied goods or services to the Royal Family for at least five years. Holders are required to demonstrate that they have an effective environmental and sustainability policy and action plan. The recognition also has the advantage of boosting the export market where brands bearing the Royal Warrant are highly valued in the Far East, USA, China and the Commonwealth.

Unilever has a long-established relationship with the Royal Household which even pre-dates Her Majesty’s reign. The company’s brands have been supplying goods to members of the Royal Family since the mid-nineteenth century, with Colman’s being the first to receive the Royal Warrant in 1866. Subsequently, Lever Brothers, which is one of the founding companies of Unilever, was granted the Royal Warrant for Sunlight Soap and appointed official soap makers to Queen Victoria in 1892.

Anna Owen, Unilever Brand Marketing Manager for Unilever UK and Ireland said: “Today we’re kick-starting our royal festivities by not only toasting our Royal Warrant success but of course joining the nation in celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday. We are absolutely thrilled to have seven of our brands recognised in this way and only hope that the Royal Household continue to enjoy our brands well into the future. We’re especially pleased that Marmite’s ‘Love it’ fan club now has Royal recognition.”

To mark Her Majesty’s 90th birthday this week, Royal Warrant holders Stork and Persil have launched a range of limited edition packs and this is only the start of Unilever’s royal festivities in the run up to the Patron’s Lunch on Sunday June 12th. This historic event, of which Unilever is proud to be one of five official partners, is being organised on the occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday.

It will recognise and celebrate Her Majesty’s patronage of more than 600 charities and organisations worldwide throughout her reign. The Mall will be transformed to host Britain’s largest ever street party, with 10,000 guests being treated to lunch with PG tips tea and Wall’s Ice Creams keeping guests refreshed throughout the day.
