What the experts say
The antiperspirants and deodorant info websites are a response to recent media stories about the safety of deodorants.
In the coming weeks, the site will begin to appear prominently on search engines when internet users search for information on antiperspirant safety.
Simon Goldrick, corporate responsibility manager, said: "As the global leader in deodorants and antiperspirants, we have a responsibility to reassure consumers that our products are safe."
"Through this web site we are able to bring together and communicate the views of cancer experts that antiperspirants do not cause breast cancer."
The web site is about the safety of antiperspirants in general, including those made by Unilever. Simon stressed: "The reality is that antiperspirants and deodorants are safe, and the hypothesis on which the scare stories are based has been attacked as inaccurate and misleading by cancer experts."
At present the site is in English only, but by the end of the year it will be available in French, German, Italian and Spanish.
