As a graduate at Unilever, there will be some very high expectations of you.

Your progress is reviewed after every placement and a formal review takes place after 18 months to assess what level you’re at. We base our Performance Development Plans (PDPs) on behaviours we see as vital to your (and our) success, called competencies.

Performance Development Plans

DogsPerformance Development Planning (PDP) helps improve your performance through honest feedback. Each PDP is individually-created, with your personal aims and skills in mind. Following each placement you’ll have a thorough performance review with your Line Manager to examine your strengths and weaknesses.

Ultimately, however you’ll be responsible for your own development and will need to be proactive in securing development opportunities. It’s also a good idea to set yourself some objectives, review them and seek feedback throughout your placements. This isn’t something you should feel at all shy about, however, as you’ll find there are always people willing to help you progress. We have a lot of people with immensely valuable experience here – use it!

Competencies

What makes you an exceptional leader? Really, it’s about behaviour. And that’s why we’ve developed a Leadership for Growth Profile that identifies some of the skills and qualities you’ll need to become a truly great manager at Unilever. This isn’t about adhering to a strict set of rules, though – again we should stress that your success will be down to your own verve and personality. What this list does do, however, is act as a useful guide to show how and where you might improve.
