Our selection process is designed to identify if you have the potential to become one of our future business leaders, while also helping you decide if Unilever is the right organisation for you.

Demanding & empowering

It’s demanding, certainly, but if you make it through, you’ll know we have every confidence in your ability – a very empowering feeling.

ArtApplication form

All applications should be made in the apply section of this site. If this isn’t possible, please contact us to make alternative arrangements. Some points to note include:

  • Our application form may be quite long, but it enables you to present a complete picture of your talents, interests and ambitions
  • Take your time and make sure you answer all the questions; we need evidence that you possess the competencies we’re looking for - so focus on what you as an individual have achieved, not just what happened when you were part of a group
  • This is the first stage of the assessment, and your form will be evaluated by a trained assessor, not a computer
  • If you are successful, senior managers from our business will see your form - so make sure you spell check it!

Telephone interview

This is the first stage of our assessment, should your application be successful.

Psychometric test

Should you be successful at the telephone interview stage, you will be required to complete an on-line verbal reasoning test in order to be booked on to our Selection for Growth assessment day.  Candidates applying for the Finance programme will, in addition to the verbal reasoning test, be required to complete and pass an on-line finance test to qualify for the assessment day.

Selection for growth

This is the final assessment stage, which is held in Leatherhead, Surrey between January and April.

The day consists of a variety of exercises including:

  • a work simulation or in-tray exercise
  • group discussions
  • individual competency based interviews

Some of these exercises are designed around a business case study, enabling us to assess your potential while giving you an insight into what it’s like to work in a Unilever company.

The case study focuses on business issues - but you don’t need in-depth business knowledge to tackle it. Instead you should use your ability to think logically and laterally, your life experience and your interpersonal skills.

Offer

  • We will let you know the outcome of the event within 24 hours and also give you feedback on how you did during the day.
  • If successful, you’ll be offered a position in one of our operating companies. We try to take personal preferences into account when selecting a position for you, but you must be prepared work in any of our UK operations during your first two years.
  • Your offer will remain open for 10 days, giving you time to visit your operating company and meet the people you’ll be working with before making a final decision.

Please note that you must be eligible to work in the UK to apply.
