Unilever nurture you
"There are so many different situations you may face here, that you have to be able to learn quickly. When I worked in one of our factories, one of the biggest challenges was connecting with the people there and earning their respect, so it’s essential you have confidence in your own ability.
As much as you see it said, you really do get thrown into a real job from the start. For instance, in my second placement I was the demand planner for vegetables and potatoes. I had to make sure we had all the supply we needed to meet the demand from retailers and customers, and that we never ran out of stock. That was a huge task – one that really focused my mind - and I’m pleased to say that nothing went wrong!
At the end of the two years, you emerge as a much more skilled, and better-rounded individual. You suddenly haven’t just got academic achievement under your belt – you have management skills, better communication, more confidence… and a lot of that is down to how well Unilever nurture you. That’s the true value of the programme."
