The roles
Customer Business Manager
You will be responsible for setting our customer business strategy. Managing a team of Customer Account Managers and Customer Executives, you’ll set the tone for developing stronger, closer relationships with our customers, acting as the strategic brain for all the brand activity in their stores.
Customer Account Manager
This is all about delivering – on our business plans, on our targets and on our promises with our customers. Taking a hands-on approach you’ll negotiate deals and work with your Customer Business Manager to develop and implement a successful strategy. You’ll also be the day-to-day contact for each customer; own the relationship Unilever has with them; and work with the Customer Marketing Manager on in-store activations.
Customer Executive
Information is absolutely pivotal to our success. Reports on our competitors; information on our customers; insights into what our consumers like and dislike – all of these need to be analysed and conclusions pulled out of them. So, we’re looking for a real analytical mind – someone who’s use to sifting and shaping financial data – to spot trends and support our Customer Development teams in working better with their clients. Whether you’ve experience in retail or research or retail, this is an excellent route into the UK’s number one FMCG company, and, if you want, a fantastic stepping stone to develop your own small category and progress on to an Account Manager.
Customer Development Executive (field sales)
Some of our products – like our ice creams, mini drinks and snacks like Peperami – are brilliant as impulse buys. You’ll be out on the road, working as part of a virtual team, to make them work even better. You’ll do this by building up long-term relationships with either national or regional wholesale, travel, leisure accounts, getting to know their needs and then making and closing deals. You have the autonomy to control the value of the account and if you’re passionate, committed and willing to take risks, you’ll soon see it grow.
Category Operations Manager
This is a chance to influence a system still within its infancy; to direct significant changes; and to make this new area of responsibility your own. You’ll coordinate all our category strategy, acting as the lynchpin between the Business, Marketing and Customer teams. You’ll lead a virtual team of Account Managers; own our 18-month rolling activity plan to make sure the activities of our brands and our customers are in line; deliver monthly feedback; and, on a broader level, develop the capabilities and sharpen the focus of our teams. There’s tremendous potential here – and also some incredibly big competition – so the challenge and reward with both be high.
