Picking your perfume

If you've found a perfume you like, leave it on for about an hour before you buy. The smells of perfumes can change when you've been wearing them for a while.
Sniff a coffee bean in between trying different perfumes. It'll help clear your nose for new smells.

Go mildly floral for major elegance with a classic perfume. These are sweet smelling with a lingering, warm fragrance. Or, if you want to go really bold, try patchouli, amber or sandalwood. Lively, clean-smelling, citrus-based scents suit a get-up-and-go mood and can give you a lift, especially when you're feeling groggy in the mornings. Look for bergamot and petitgrain notes, 'green' fresh cut grass-type smells, or search for maine-style, ocean-smelling perfumes.
Feeling romantic?
Classic seductive scents are the heady, oriental-style fragrances. Look for perfumes featuring musks or jasmine notes. Romantic scents are more innocent and subtle than the sensual, seductive perfumes. Look for florals, such as violets, lilacs and lilies.
