Recreate the latest catwalk hairstyles

From high end boutiques to high street stores, the trends first seen on the catwalks of the world's chicest cities inspire outfits that we'll all want to wear in the coming seasons.

But it's not just the clothes that make the models look fabulous – their hairstyles set the tone for fashionistas the world over too.

At the spring/summer 2008 shows, which just made their debuts on the runways of London, Milan, Paris and New York, hair ranged from riotous colours and curls to stark, sleek styles – but there were plenty of trends that were gorgeously wearable – and they're set to be big next year.

Pony club

Ponytails are swinging back into style for next season – and with a quiff at the front to add volume and shape, they're the perfect quick fix for a glamorous new look. To create a quiff, take the front, fringe section of your hair, pull it above your head and backcomb it a little underneath. Next, bring it back and twist once, three or four inches back from your face, before pushing the hair forwards to create a bump. Secure it with grips and a shot of strong-hold hairspray, such as Sunsilk's. The ponytail is the easy bit – but make sure it's mid-height. Any higher or lower would be a fashion faux-pas!

Long & loose

Banish those straighteners! The next big thing is all about loose, natural-looking locks, with centre-parted, gently waved styles that hang down past shoulders and shine with health. To get a beach-babe look, use your fingers to twist strands of damp hair and blast each twisted section in turn with the hairdryer. You're aiming for a tousled, almost messy look, so don't worry about being too precise. Gloss is a must for this style, so spritz your hair with a shine spray for a fashionable finishing touch.

Colour carnival

From bleach blonde or Jessica Rabbit-red to show-stopping sections of bold shades, colour is vivid for spring/summer next year. Anything goes, whatever the length or texture, it's just all about keeping colour strong and sexy. Care for your coloured hair with shampoos, conditioners and intensive treatments designed to lock in hues and keep shades looking hotter for longer. Sunsilk's collections for blondes, brunettes and redheads are ideal – without the designer price tags!
